Seed starting for 2021:
11 April 2021 - Lots of seed starting - Borlotti beans (from Carol), Meyer lemons (from Tom), nasturtium, kale, Dyer's coresopsis, celosia, chives, amaranth, Cardinal climber, Tassel flower, Moss rose.
9 April 2021 - Tomato seedlings started on 5 April, sprouted and were one inch tall by Friday. Potted up eggplant and kale. Transplanted lettuce (leftover microgreens) into the garden bed.
30 March 2021 - Lettuce didn't grow, two kale and six eggplant seedlings. Two of the eggplant have signs of true leaves. Two types of peppers started, on heat mat in the basement.
14 March 2021 - Lettuce, kale and eggplant seeds sown, on heat mat in the pantry.
16 January 2021 - Microgreens started! Mesclun lettuce seeds in potting soil, with heat mat underneath and covered with plastic wrap. Condensation indicates that there is enough moisture.
22 February 2021 - Winter sowing, a little late. Used a spinach container to start seeds of Cardinal Climber and Moss Rose. Poked holes in the top and bottom, filled with soil, moistened it (soaked, really) and let drain. Next day planted Cardinal Climber seeds on one side, and Moss Rose on the other, closed it up and put in a pile of snow in the raised bed.
15 March 2021 - Kale, lettuce and eggplant started, in soilless seed starting mix on heat mat, under grow lights in the pantry. Eggplant will need to be repotted, kale and lettuce should be able to be transplanted by late April.
